Has anti-virus mogul and alleged murderer suspect John McAfee been captured? McAfee said no.

Authorities allegedly captured McAfee on the Belize-Mexico border and though evidence of the incident has yet to be released to confirm the identity of the detained person, McAfee said it wasn't he who was captured, but one of his lookalikes instead.

McAfee took to his blog to tell the public that he is still a free man:

"I apologize for the silence, and misdirection. I am currently safe and in the company of two intrepid journalist from Vice Magazine, and, of course, Sam. We are not in Belize, but not quite out of the woods yet. I will do a more detailed posting later today if all goes well. My 'double', carrying on a North Korean passport under my name, was in fact detained in Mexico for pre-planned misbehavior.

"But due to indifference on the part of authorities [he] was evicted from the jail and was unable to serve his intended purpose in our exit plan. He is now safely out of Mexico."

McAfee is apparently well but tired from recent events. The 67-year-old anti-virus pioneer's message to the public also noted that he left Belize because of "a series of events" which led McAfee and "Sam," a 17-year-old girl who is his only companion, to believe that she was in danger of being captured. He moved because he feared "Sam's" safety and he also called her "my go-between and my eyes and ears in the outside world."

"I will be returning to Belize after I have place Sam in a safe position. My fight is in Belize, and I can do little in exile," he said. "My lifeline of information pertaining to the inner workings of the government depends on my physical presence."

McAfee is wanted by authorities in Belize who are investigating the murder of 52-year-old Gregory Faull, an American expatriate and neighbor of the anti-virus mogul. After Faull was fatally shot in the back of the head, McAfee fled police questioning on Nov. 11 and has since used his website to claim his innocence, according to The Huffington Post.
