- St. Louis County has declared a state of emergency amid protests and demonstrations to mark the first anniversary of Michael Brown's death. Brown, an unarmed black 18-year-old, was killed by a white police officer, Darren Wilson, in Fergusson, Missouri in 2014. The rallies began over the weekend and have resulted in several clashes with police, including one man being shot and the arrest of over a hundred people.

Coincidently, the Olsen Twins have just been slapped with a lawsuit by a former intern alleging the duo's Dualstar Entertainment company forces its interns to work grueling hours for no pay (or college credit).
-In election news: GOP candidate (and former Texas Governor) Rick Perry has reportedly run out of money to pay his staff. Uh-oh. Meanwhile, Fox News' Megyn Kelly finally publically addressed the fracas over Donald Trump's comments about her (he insinuated that she was menstruating during last week's GOP debate); and the Donald responds to criticism that he's a whiner, telling CNN, "I do whine because I want to win."
-Cuteness Alert: A California family that lost their cat while evacuating a recent wildfire were reunited with the tabby, who survived the blaze taking shelter under a burned out pickup truck.
