Kardashian Kitten Dies: Pet From Kanye West Succumbs To Rare Disease
Kim Kardashian is grieving after getting news that a white kitten given to her by boyfriend Kanye West died last week.
The reality star, 32, got the news on Dec. 7 that the cat, which she had named Mercy, suffered from a rare and debilitating condition that ended its life after only four months. Kardashian shared her feelings of mourning over losing her beloved pet on her personal blog in a post titled "Rest In Peace, Little Mercy."
"It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that my kitten, Mercy, has passed away. My heart is completely broken," Kardashian wrote.
She added that she had never had a pet cat before, and after West gave her the gift, Kardashian quickly realized she was allergic to the kitten. She consulted with several doctors who told her that the only way for her to be around Mercy would be to take injections, which Kardashian didn't feel would be safe for her.
Because she wanted the cat to have the best life possible, Kardashian gave Mercy to her sister Khloe Kardashian's assistant, Sydney Hitchcock, who had recently lost her beloved cat of 17 years. Things were all perfect until Hitchcock got some very bad news.
"Sydney gave Mercy a loving home, but after a couple of weeks Mercy got really sick and Sydney had to rush her to the vet," Kim wrote. "They discovered she had a stomach problem that we weren't aware of. Her stomach had filled with fluid and the doctor said she had a rare stomach cancer and that there was nothing we could do for her.
Poor little Mercy died the very next day. It broke not only my heart that little Mercy died at only four months old, but Sydney's too."
Kim named the kitten after "Mercy," the song by her rapper boyfriend that also featured Big Sean and Pusha T, and appeared on the G.O.O.D. Music album "Cruel Summer."
