Comedian Katt Williams slapped a Target employee last month and has now come out to defend his actions, saying he responded to the employee who talked to him in a derogatory manner.

Williams, who announced his retirement from stand-up earlier this month, performed at the Comedy Store in Hollywood on Wednesday night and explained the Nov. 25 incident to the audience.

"This is what the dude at Target said ... 'Your assistant is already suing you, you p**sy ass n***er,' " he said to the crowd.

The target employee, Forrest Liebenberg, referred to a lawsuit Williams is currently facing in which his assistant is suing him for $5 million for punching her.

Williams then said he told Liebenberg, "Did you just say the n-word in front of Katt Williams?"

"You say it all the time," Liebenberg said.

After Williams threated the man by saying "Say it again and see what happens," the 39-year-old slapped Liebenberg.

There was no lawsuit filed after the incident but the Target cashier was fired.

The surveillance video, which has no audio, showed Williams approach Liebenberg in the Target Woodland, Calif., location, reportedly argue with him, and then slap the man in the face. Liebenberg then pulled out his cellphone and reportedly called the police, according to an eyewitness.

In another video, either taken from an onlooker's phone or video camera, Liebenberg is shown on the phone and when Williams got tired of waiting, he got into an electric cart and drove away. It happened on the same day that Williams reportedly led the police on a car chase through Sacramento, Calif.

Williams announced his retirement from stand-up comedy earlier in December and said on the same day that he plans on suing the city of Seattle for ruining his reputation not only as a comedian, but also as a citizen.
