Katie Holmes Forgets Broadway Lines, Actress Admits To Letterman
During her latest visit to the "Late Show with David Letterman," actress Katie Holmes talked about her Broadway show "Dead Accounts" and admitted to falling prey to her biggest fear of forgetting her lines.
The 34-year-old spoke to the talk show host on Dec. 20 about the incident that happened recently during a live performance of the comedic play.
"I had the moment that I've been dreading," she told Letterman. "Which was, I have this kind of big speech in the second act and it's pretty important because it kind of goes along with the theme of the show.
"And I said the first line, and I'm looking at (co-star) Judy Greer and I'm supposed to be angry with her. And then the second line I didn't remember. And I didn't remember the third one. And I just looked at her like -" Holmes then made a face that looked like she was terrified.
However, the actress said she was able to recover: "Obviously, I knew what the point of (the speech) was so I made my way there," she said.
In "Dead Accounts," Holmes plays Lorna, the over zealous sister of a con man who returns home with millions of dollars. The play, written by Theresa Rebeck - the creator of "Smash" - officially opened to the public on Nov. 29.
The "Dawson's Creek" actress celebrated her 34th birthday on Dec. 18 and started the day having breakfast with her 6-year-old daughter, Suri, in New York City, sources told Us Weekly. The pair were spotted at the Upper West Side bistro and bakery Sugar and Plumm, and pastry chef Pichet Ong surprised the birthday girl with a homemade vanilla sponge cake layered with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream frosting that said "Happy Birthday Katie."
The mother and daughter have been living in New York since Holmes divorced "Jack Reaper" star Tom Cruise this summer. He still lives in California where he is near his two children from a previous marriage - Connor and Isabella.
