Deport Piers Morgan Petition Link Signed by 50,000 People: CNN Host Responds
"Deport" Piers Morgan is a new petition to the White House signed by more than 50,000 people who claim the CNN television host is engaged in a "hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution."
Morgan blasted those who signed the petition to deport him on his personal Twitter account Monday. See the petition here.
"I don't care about petition to deport me. I do care about poor NY firefighters murdered/injured with an assault weapon today," Morgan wrote on his Twitter account Monday.
The petition against Morgan was posted on Dec. 21 in the official site of the White House "We the People" (petitions.whitehouse.gov) and is titled "Deport British Citizen Piers Morgan for Attacking 2nd Amendment."
As of Monday 5:30 pm it had 50,412 signatures. The White House responds to petitions with more than 25,000 signatures.
"We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," reads the petition.
Morgan has openly supported the ban of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in the United States following the killings in Sandy Hook Elementary School where 20 children were shot by a gunman.
"Americans murdered with assault weapons in movie theaters, temples, schools, shopping malls - now, as they put out fires. Where does it end?" Morgan wrote.
"Come on America, ENOUGH: Ban assault weapons & high-capacity magazines, and enforce background checks on 100% of gun sales. Do it now," he wrote on his Twitter today.
