Shakira's Baby Prank was orchestrated by her boyfriend Gerard Pique when he turned to Twitter on Dec. 28 to make a "very important announcement."

The Spanish soccer player Tweeted a message to his fans proclaiming that Shakira had given birth to their son, but it all turned to be a prank because he was celebrating "Dia de Los Inocentes" the equivalent to "Fool's Day" in the United States.

"Our son is already born! We are very happy! Thank you all for your messages!" Pique tweeted on Dec. 28, when Fool's Day is celebrated in Spain and Latin America.

"He already has a name! His name is Innocence! Happy Day of the Innocents!" he tweeted 10 hours later.

Pique, 25 and Shakira, 35 are expecting their first child in mid-January, according to a report by the European Union of Association Football (UEFA) on Dec. 21.

It seems that the player is thinking a lot about his son lately.

"When you're single, you concentrate very much on football and your friends. Now it's about your partner, and there's a baby coming too; so things change and you have to adapt. But I think everything that's happening to me now is beautiful," he said at an Awards Ceremony for his team FC Barcelona on Dec. 21, according to UEFA.com.

Shakira appears to be very happy as well. She made public the ultrasound picture of her baby boy earlier this month.

The singer has reportedly been very excited about becoming a mom and has has kept her fans abreast of her pregnancy using her Twitter account. The couple used the social media site to share pictures of the child with the first shot uploaded to the photo sharing website WhoSay.com.

The Colombian singer confirmed the news in September that she is expecting her first child with 25-year-old soccer star.

"Gerard I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!" she posted on her official website when she first heard the news. "At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days."
