McConaughey's Son's Name Revealed, Baby Boy & Third Child With Camila Alves
Matthew McConaughey revealed on Saturday night, Dec. 29, the name of this third child, a baby boy with wife Camila Alves.
"Camila gave birth to our third child yesterday morning. Our son, Livingston Alves McConaughey, was born at 7:43 a.m. on 12.28.12," he wrote on his Whosay page. "He greeted the world at 9 lbs., and 21 inches. Bless up and thank you for your well wishes. Happy New year, and just keep livin."
Alves, 29, and McConaughey, 43, welcomed their child on Friday in Austin, Texas. The couple announced the pregnancy in July only one month after they wed in Texas. They are already parents to Vida, 2, and Levi, 4.
USA Today noted that the choice of name for their son might have been inspired by McConaughey's favorite phrase "Just keep livin." He first said it playing Wooderson in the 1993 film "Dazed and Confused," and the phrase later inspired his Just Keep Livin foundation and the j.k. livin store.
McConaughey plays an HIV/AIDS patient in "The Dallas Buyer's Club," which will be released in 2013. He lost 30 pounds and admitted to starving himself in order to play the movie role of an AIDS patient who turns to experimental HIV drugs for help in the mid-1980s.
The film is "loosely-based" on the true-life story of Ron Woodroof, a druggie and womanizer who was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 1986 and given thirty days to live, according to IMDb. He started taking AZT, the only legal drug available at that time in the U.S for his condition, but that brought him only closer to death.
He then resorted to smuggling anti-viral medications into the U.S. and eventually other AIDS patients wanted him to share some of his drugs. With that, the Dallas Buyers Club was created, providing paying members alternative treatments smuggled in from different countries.
