Hurst Police Officer Fired After Violence & Profanity-Filled Youtube Video Surfaces
After using physical force and threatening a teenager using profanity, a Hurst, Texas, police officer has now been terminated.
Disraeli Arnold was videotaped in November assisting Officer Miguel Jimenez while he restrained a teen. In the footage, Arnold could be seen kneeing the teen in the back of his head while yelling profanities and threatening him.
More footage was released several days later that showed the course of events prior to Arnold's arrival, in which the teen was shown arguing with Officer Miguel Jimenez while resisting arrest, an offense he was charged for.
Although the teenager's mother Kelly Pope wasn't against her son's incarceration, she did object to the violence the officer used to take him into custody, according to NBC News.
"He [her son] knows that he handled it badly at first, that he should have been a little more cooperative. But, you know, the second officer - there was no reason for it. He (Arnold) comes up at a jolting sprint, kneed him in the back of the head and, as you can see the video, he says 'If you move I'm going to [expletive] kill you."
While the teen was being taken to a police car, Arnold proudly walked in front of his friend who was recording the footage and said, "You got it on tape? Arnold, 654!"
With the controversial footage as evidence, Pope filed a complaint with the Hurst Police Department, which led to an investigation by its internal affairs. The mother said she hoped that Arnold either resign or be fired.
On Thursday, Hurst police had said that Arnold was "indefinitely suspended for violations of Hurst Police Department General Orders and Civil Service rules relating to his actions on Nov. 20, 2012" and "an internal affairs investigation was conducted for violations ... to include the unnecessary use of force, being disrespectful to a citizen, and the use of indecent, profane, or harsh language in the performance of official duties."
