Naomi Campbell Mugged & Injured: Supermodel Reported to Paris Police About November Attack
Supermodel Naomi Campbell was reportedly mugged in November while in France.
Campbell filed a police complaint on Friday for an incident that took place in Paris Nov. 21 in which two male assailants grabbed her handbag and possibly caused her injuries during the struggle.
"There was an attempted robbery with violence," an official at the prosecutor's office said, according to a report by Reuters.
The 42-year-old British supermodel claimed in the police report that two men on motorbikes attacked her in the Marais area of Paris.
Police are now looking into the investigation to identify the possible suspects responsible for the attack.
Campbell apparently suffered a knee injury during the incident which may require future surgery. According to The BBC, the supermodel used a wheelchair and crutches following the attack.
It is unclear exactly what position Campbell was in during the time of the attack as some sources claim she was in her limousine while others say she was hailing a cab.
"On November 21, two people on a motorbike attempted to steal Ms Campbell's handbag as she sat in a vehicle on Rue de Moussy," said a police source, according to The Daily Mail. "She filed a complaint with police in the 4th arrondissement but she did not agree to a medical examination."
The source also added that the reason she reported the crime was due to a possible threat that she was deliberately targeted and that they might strike again.
The New York Post reported a quote from a source close to the supermodel who said, "It was terrifying. Naomi believes the assailant had been watching her, casing her out, and waited for a moment to strike when she was alone."
Campbell was trying to hail a taxi when, sources say, she was "knocked over and robbed," leaving her with a torn ligament.
No statement has officially been made by the British model about the incident.
