The move appeared to be a bit of a retaliation against Bryant, who had embarrassed Paul earlier in the game. In the move Paul dribbled and performed some skillful footwork to extend the Clippers lead to 103-97 late in the game as the clock ran down.

That fantastic bit of play helped the Clippers win the game against their local rivals 107-102 and extend their amazing record to 26-8 for the season so far.

Paul spoke to reporters after the game, saying, "The shot clock was running down, and Kobe was forcing me left. I got a shot on him, and luckily it went in."

Bryant, 34, had left Paul red-faced earlier in the game by intercepting a pass and maneuvering by his rival in the first quarter, as he hammered it down for a massive dunk. That move stoked up the atmosphere in the arena as the fans applauded the skill.

Bryant finished the game with 38 points, where as Paul managed to gain 30 points as well as 13 assists.

There is a great rivalry developing between Paul and Bryant. In 2011 there was also a fierce rivalry between the pair and Paul in fact threatened Bryant’s ankle in a contest between the two Los Angeles teams last season. The Clippers won that game 114-95.

Bryant spoke to reporters on Thursday after practice, and was asked whether the Clippers could win their first Larry O'Brien Trophy. He said, "They're definitely one of the top contenders...They're very spectacular. They're fun to watch. There's no question about it."
