'Octomom' on Welfare Again; Nadya Suleman Seeks Government Assistance
"Octomom" Nadya Suleman returned to welfare after being only five months off of government assistance.
The infamous mother of 14 children signed up this week for welfare assistance, according to TMZ.
The 37-year-old mom will receive $1,800 a month for food, $1,000 for emergency cash, as well as money for mental health and dental issues for her family.
Suleman was able to use her "octomom" fame for deals with various media outlets until her expenses grew too much to bear.
She was on government assistance in early 2012 and was on the verge of bankruptcy and homelessness trying to take care of her large family as well as a major housing debt.
However, she was able to get off the welfare system by earning money through work in pornography and stripping.
She was able to support herself financially last July with the proceeds of her adult film "Octomom: Home Alone." Suleman reportedly used a portion of the money to purchase a new 5,000 square foot property for her family that had six bedrooms in Palmdale, Calif.
The busy mom checked herself into a rehab facility to resolve issues with prescription drugs that were leading to severe health problems.
"I chose to seek treatment after consulting with my manager regarding my recent use of Xanax, which was prescribed by my physician for panic attacks," Suleman said in a statement cited by The Daily Mail.
Suleman has drained the last of her savings from her short adult film career and the expenses of rehab, according to media reports.
She also currently takes care of her family with the assistance of a team of three nannies she employed along with two friends to help look after her children. Most of the duties include getting the children ready for school and providing their transportation.
Octomom is also preparing for another major birthday celebration as her octuplets will turn four-years-old later this month.
