Part one of "The Biggest Loser" aired on Sunday, Jan. 6, and after a two-season absence, Jillian Michaels returned to the show as a season trainer in an effort to battle America's obesity epidemic.

The show's host, Alison Sweeney, kicked off the episode by introducing to the live audience three child contestants - Sunny, Biingo and Lindsay, The children, part of the show's new effort to fight obesity at a young age, shared their goals and expectations and Sweeney explained that though they will not participate in the challenges with the other contestants, their weight loss progress will be monitored by the trainers. They also cannot be eliminated from the competition.

Sweeney then introduced the trainers and Michaels stepped out on stage with Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince. Michaels spoke to 9News about her return to the show and said she plans on staying for a while.

"You leave the show, you want to do new things. Everyone's like, 'That's great! Good for you! We support you. Can you go back to 'Biggest Loser'?' " she said. "Bob Harper and I saw Madonna in concert recently and she played new music, and we were like, 'Cool! When is she going to play 'Holiday'?' 'Biggest Loser' is sort of my version of 'Holiday.' "

Michaels added "I will stay on ('Loser') as long as you'll have me!"

She said that the show's cause to fight childhood obesity is something she is very passionate about. Michaels works with the William J. Clinton Foundation, which has established separate initiatives each with a mission to collectively promote global health and wellness as preventative measures to stop epidemics such as childhood obesity. She noted that having a vehicle such as NBC's "The Biggest Loser" to help create "exposure to be able to exploit that is really exciting."

Watch part two of the series premiere on Monday, Jan, 7, at 8/7 p.m. Central.
