Taylor Swift, Olivia Munn Pulls 'Kanye West' At 2013 People's Choice Awards: 'This Always Happens'
Taylor Swift had another "Kanye West moment" when actress Olivia Munn took her award from her at the 2013 People's Choice Awards on Monday night.
Though this time it was as a joke, Swift still reacted to the incident and responded with a ling that became the topic of the entire night.
The "Kanye West moment" refers to what happened at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when Swift went up on stage to accept her award for Best Female Video. Beyonce was also nominated in the catagory and when Swift when on stage to get the award and give her acceptance speech, West ran up on stage, took the microphone from Swift, interrupted her moment (it was Swift's first ever VMA award), and in front of the entire audience and all the viewers at home protested in defense of Beyonce.
"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he proclaimed as Beyonce looked on shockingly from the crowd.
In a similar fashion and four years later, at Wednesday's People's Choice Awards, another Swift interruption occurred. Munn presented Swift with the award for Favorite Country Artist but when the singer went on stage to accept the honor, Munn was unwilling to hand over the award.
Munn joked that she was the inspiration behind "We Are Never Getting Back Together," and she then grabbed Swift's award from her hands, demanding a "thank you."
"This always happens," Swift said, and the entire audience began laughing.
"And it will always happen, Taylor. This is your lot in life," Munn told her.
When Maroon 5 went on stage later on in the show to receive the award for Favorite Band, Adam Levine joked about Swift's comment and said it was the best thing said all night. He then repeated "this always happens" as his own.
A newly single Swift wore a plunging white gown with cap sleeves, Christian Louboutin heels, blue Sutra drop earrings and a smoky eye. Her reported ex-boyfriend, Harry Styles, was not at the event with his band One Direction, though they did take home an award that night for Favorite Song and Favorite Album.
