Microsoft's new Surface Pro tablet is close to hitting the market and is already creating buzz in the tech community.

The tablet has yet to have an official release date, but rumors suggest the announcement will be made at the end of January, according to International Business Times.

The new device was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show that took place earlier this month and gave the world a glimpse at what is to come.

The Surface Pro is expected to pick up the pace for the slow demand in Microsoft tablets that took place over the holiday shopping season.

"Surface Pro is the more promising model," UBS analyst Brent Thill stated, according to Bloomberg.

So what makes the Surface Pro so special?

The biggest draw to the Surface Pro is that it is the first tablet to deliver full desktop performance and software compared to other similar devices.

It also has 64GB of storage, which can be upgraded to 128GB for an extra $100. Surface Pro will run with 4GB of RAM, and a 10.6-inch, full 1080p display. There also will be a solitary mini-Display Port and USB 3.0 ports along with a micro-SDXC slot.

The tablet measures with a multi-touch 10.6-inch screen, .53-inches thick, 2-pounds, and has a battery life of around four to five hours on a full charge.

The tablet can also uphold its end on the gaming front.

PC World tested out the Surface Pro with the first-person shooter Bulletstorm. The review stated: "its frame rate at 1920x1080 was smooth enough to play, but didn't look butter smooth in 60fps+ territory. Still, if nothing else, the game demo did prove that Surface Pro is a legitimate performer, and can deliver what one would expect from other Windows 8/Intel tablet combos running similar components."

The current price tag for the new tablet is around $900.
