Victoria Secret Model Lawsuit; Constance Jablonski Sued for $3.3 Million
Victoria's Secret model Constance Jablonski is being sued by her former modeling agency for $3.3 million after she left to work for a rival.
The Marilyn Modeling Agency launched the suit on Wednesday against the 21-year-old model and DNA Model Management who is alleged to have poached Jablonski.
The model's former agency stated that they helped her develop Jablonski's fame by getting her work with top designer companies such as Chanel and Burberry.
The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court and stated, "DNA's wrongful conduct is for the purpose of destabilizing Marilyn's business, and causing irreparable damage to its image (and) reputation," according to The Huffington Post.
Jablonski started modeling with Marilyn in 2008 and signed an exclusive contract to stay with the agency through September 2014 after she made her first appearance in the 2011 Victoria's Secret runway show.
Bennett Krasner, Jablonski's attorney, stated that Marilyn gave bad advice to Jablonski as well as not living up to the agreement of their initial contract for booking work for the model.
"At the beginning of her career, she loved working with Marilyn," Krasner told the New York Post. "Unfortunately, all of the people she worked with closely have left. She loves her new agency. It's very supportive."
Mr Krasner also said the two agencies had attempted to resolve the dispute amicably before Marilyn Model Management filed the lawsuit.
The model talked about her situation on Thursday with a Twitter post: "With a New Year comes new beginnings. After my bookers, many of those I began with at Marilyn and my dearest Marilyn Gaultier left the... agency this past year, I decided to move on to DNA. I'm very excited with the move and I hope you are too!! Wishing all my friends from.... Marilyn all the best with their new beginnings. Thank you to all of you followers and fans, for always supporting me!!"
