Armstrong Oprah Interview Video Replay and Reactions to Cyclist's Admission to Doping
Responses to Lance Armstrong's interview with Oprah on Thursday where he admitted to doping during his cycling career, appeared on the web after the one-and-a- half hour special aired, as anti-doping officials, fans and others gave their opinions.
During the first of a two-part interview Thursday night with Oprah Winfrey on her OWN network, Armstrong finally admitted to using a series of drugs to boost his performance including erythropoietin (EPO), human growth hormone and blood doping.
"Did it feel wrong?" Oprah asked.
"No," Armstrong replied. "Scary"
"Did you feel bad about it?" Winfrey asked.
"No," he said. "Even scarier."
"Did you feel in any way that you were cheating?" Oprah pressed him.
"No," Armstrong paused. "Scariest."
The U.S. Anti-Doping agency USADA released a statement on its website following the interview. The statement read:
"Tonight, Lance Armstrong finally acknowledged that his cycling career was built on a powerful combination of doping and deceit. His admission that he doped throughout his career is a small step in the right direction. But if he is sincere in his desire to correct his past mistakes, he will testify under oath about the full extent of his doping activities," USADA CEO Travis T. Tygart wrote.
