Jessa Duggar might have given birth to a healthy little boy, but according to reports, it wasn't easy. The reality television star is being criticized for her "risky" home birth, knowing that there might be complications given her family's history, after she was rushed to the hospital earlier this week. Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald welcomed their first child on Thursday.

According to TMZ on Friday, things went from bad to worse before Jessa gave birth to her 9 lbs, 11 oz. son. The site says that she tried giving birth at home but after having complications, she was rushed to a hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Jessa's sister Jill Duggar didn't have an easy birth either as she had an unplanned C-section after she was two weeks overdue with her son Israel back in April. Jill had hoped to have a home birth, but because of the size of her son when he was born, medical personnel advised her that it would be best to go to the hospital.

Now, critics are saying that the Duggar family should have known better and planned a hospital birth, especially if they knew that giving birth to such a large baby would come with unavoidable complications.

On the popular gossip blog Celebitchy, one commenter said, "I have watched too many births go wrong while in a hospital, 30 feet from an OR, to ever let anyone I love try for a home birth. I don't care how safe someone claims they are, if you need an emergency c section, you want to be as close to that OR as possible. Why risk it?!"

Another critic added, "I know it's a huge personal opinion but j just can't get behind home births. Too risky and I don't understand why anyone would willingly do it."

So far, the Duggar family hasn't said anything about Jessa's hospitalization, other than both mother and baby are doing fine.
