iPhone 5S Release Date May be in June; Rumored Specs on Apple's Latest Device
The latest rumors suggest that Apple will start production on the iPhone 5S in March with a launch date likely for around June.
A new report was released this week by Peter Misek, an employee at investment bank Jeffries, who made predictions about the new iPhone 5S to investors this week.
"Our checks indicate that preliminary builds for the iPhone 5S will start in March for a launch in June/July," Misek stated, as reported by MacRumors.com. "As word of the earlier production schedule starts to spread, we believe we could see a slight slowing of demand CQ1 in anticipation of the new product launch and Apple will likely start curtailing channel inventory."
Misek also stated that iPhone sales could begin to drop as customers anticipate the arrival of the latest model smartphone.
"As word of the earlier production schedule starts to spread, we believe we could see a slight slowing of demand CQ1 in anticipation of the new product launch and Apple will likely start curtailing channel inventory," Misek said, as quoted by StreetInsider. "Therefore we tweak down our CQ1 iPhone shipment estimate from 48M to 44M, which is still well above widespread fears of shipments in the mid-30Ms."
Misek previously reported in December that Apple had cut parts orders for the iPhone 5. In the report he claims that iPhone 5S will likely have a 4.8-inch display a new super HD camera, an IGZO screen for Retina+, 128GB storage, and come in a variety of colors.
Another prediction came from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who stated Apple's latest device will have a fingerprint sensor and a new (A7) Apple processor, according to ComputerWorld.
The selling price for the iPhone 5S is rumored to be a lower-cost version of its predecessor.
CNET reported that some analysts are estimating the phone could sell for around $350 to $450.
