Tragedy has struck once again as officials in Houston, Tex. are reporting that several people have been shot at a local community college. The police department is currently on the scene at Lone Star Community College where shots were fired just after 12 on Tuesday afternoon.

It is being reported by RT that authorities have taken into custody at least one individual and are on the lookout for other possible suspects after at least one gunman opened fire at the school's North Harris campus at 2700 W. W. Thorne, near Aldine Westfield, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Eyewitnesses to the nightmarish ordeal stated that several gunshots could be heard during the afternoon outside of the classroom. At least one person was said to have been transported to a local hospital, and a SWAT team has been called to the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that there may have been at least three victims. However, information as to their health status has yet to be made public.

According to ABC 13, two of the victims have suffered "multiple gunshot wounds" and are currently in serious condition en route to the local hospital.

Due to the dangers of the situation, the institution has issued a bulletin that reads: " Students, Faculty and Staff are advised to take immediate shelter where you are. Do not enter the campus until notified further."

As a precautionary measure, other schools within the area have been locked down as well.

"We know what shots have been fired and we are in a shelter-in-place situation on the campus. It's pretty a chaotic scene at this point in time," Vicki Cassidy, who is the manager of media relations for the Lone Star College System, told the Houston Chronicle.

Earlier reports stated that the shooting may have occurred inside the school's library and the cafeteria.
