Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. 4, Mario 3D & Mario Kart 8 to Appear at E3?
Smash Bros. game director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed on Jan. 23 that two versions of the next Super Smash Bros. game will be demonstrated at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata made the announcement originally at the Nintendo Direct conference earlier in January, saying Smash Bros. will make an appearance at the Expo in June. Sakurai took to Twitter to clarify the Nintendo president's announcement.
"Wii U and 3DS versions -- I would like to show you both." said Sakurai, according to a rough translation by IGN. "Other games have had visuals shown, but you still have to wait for Smash Bros. But we'll be able to release something better."
Sakurai apologized that the production of the game was announced so far in advance but said that there will be more things coming, so fans should be ready.
Nintendo's character Mario will be one of the playable characters in Smash Bros. but it is not the only game he will be appearing in at E3. Iwata added that Nintendo is currently working on the next Mario Kart, presumably titled Mario Kart 8, as well as a 3D Mario game.
"Our EAD Tokyo team, which created the Mario Galaxy series for Wii and Super Mario 3D Land for Nintendo 3DS is working on a new 3D Mario action game for the Wii U," Iwata said at the Nintendo Direct conference. "We are also working on Mario Kart for Wii U, a series which has seen one installment for each hardware system we've released."
The E3 tech and gaming expo takes place in Los Angeles on June 11.
No date was been released yet as to when the games will hit the market.
