Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) has yet to be released and rumors have already started for another potential sequel in the works by Rockstar Games.

A November interview by Dan Houser, vice president of Rockstar, was recently translated from the French publication Ecrans that revealed the executive's insight on a science fiction version of GTA.

Houser stated that the future GTA is only in the conceptual stage saying: "We will do it the very second we have an idea. One of our strengths is the consistency of the game world. We're not necessarily the best writers in the world, but we know how to write a video game."

The decision to change genres is not being made lightly and Rockstar had a reason to make the previous western version, Red Dead Redemption. Houser added, "When we decided to make a Western, it was because we knew we had something to say."

If Rockstar does go forward with the new genre it will be story focused instead of built around standard future tech scenarios.

"We have no interest in going into science fiction for the sake of flying cars and laser guns," Houser added. "The best science fiction stories are those that speak about the human condition. So while this idea is very tempting and, by definition, anything is possible in a video game, we lack the essential thing for the moment: a good reason."

OXM reported that fans should not expect a sci-fi version of the game anytime soon, but at least GTA 5 is rumored to be released within the coming months.

The game allegedly may launch in spring on either Mar. 15, Mar. 27, or around the first of April, according to iDigitalTimes.

There is also a listing on Amazon's French website suggested that a GTA 5 PC offering is in the works, with the online retailer making the title available for pre-order without an official confirmation from Rockstar.
