Apple iPad 4 128GB vs Microsoft Surface Pro; Features, Specs Compared Before Feb. Launches
Apple introduced their fourth-generation iPad this week with a storage capacity of 128GB which will launch just days before Microsoft's Windows 8 Surface Pro tablet.
The specifications and details of the new fourth generation Apple device were explained in press statement by released by the company on Tuesday.
The new iPad 4 128GB will offer twice the storage capacity of the previous iPads, with 64GB of storage, allowing the user to create and enjoy even more incredible content, such as photos, documents, projects, presentations, books, movies, TV shows, music and apps.
The fourth-generation iPad features a 9.7-inch Retina display, FaceTime HD camera, iOS 6.1 and ultra-fast wireless performance.
The new Apple-designed A6X chip inside the new iPad 4 is up to twice as fast as the previous-generation A5X chip, and it delivers up to twice the graphics performance, without sacrificing battery life, which means even the most advanced apps are smooth, responsive, and incredibly lifelike.
The device will be available in black or white color options as well as Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular model versions.
The device will come with iOS 6.1 pre-installed and includes support for additional Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks around the world.
The iPad fourth-generation with 128GB will be available starting February 5, for a suggested retail price of US $799 for the Wi-Fi only model and US $929 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
The device will be available at the Apple retail locations through brick and mortar stores as well as online.
The device will also be sold through Sprint, Verizon and AT&T.
The new latest device from Apple may also be a stab at taking away business from the laptop-like performance of Microsoft's Windows 8 Surface Pro tablet with a 128GB model priced at $999, according to CNET.
The Surface Pro tablet will be released on Feb. 9 with a base model at 64GB of storage, which can be upgraded to the higher 128GB version for an extra $100. Surface Pro runs with 4GB of RAM, and a 10.6-inch, full 1080p display. There also will be a solitary mini-Display Port and USB 3.0 ports along with a micro-SDXC slot.
The tablet measures with a multi-touch 10.6-inch screen, .53-inches thick, 2-pounds, and has a battery life of around four to five hours on a full charge, according to CNN.
It looks like the Surface Pro may take a hit in the tablet market as Apple will swoop in with a device worthy of competition.
