Chelsea will face off against Reading in a Premier League matchup at Madejski Stadium on Wednesday.

Gary Cahill strongly believes that Chelsea's second-half battle during its weekend FA Cup draw at Brentford gave confirmation that Rafael Benitez has the complete backing of the club.

Benitez's team will look to close in on second-place Manchester City when they make their return to Premier League play at Reading on Wednesday proceeding two frustrating cup fixtures.

Chelsea failed to pull out a victory against League One Brentford following a League Cup semi-final exit at Swansea.

Benitez, who is currently the team's interim manager, still can't seem to win over the Chelsea fans after being appointed last month.

While Cahill did acknowledge that there's some tension between Benitez and the team's supporters, he did insist that Chelsea's rally after falling behind to Brentford underscores the squad's unity.

"There is a lot of pressure from the fans but we needed to just try to do the job. In the end, we grafted it out on a horrible day and we now need to show our quality at home.

"It was the character we needed to dig in and just get the result we needed. Obviously we wanted to win but at least we have taken it back to the Bridge and hopefully we can finish the job there."
