Apple iOS 6 Jailbreak Untethered Update; Evad3rs to Unveil iOS 6, 6.1 Break on Feb. 3
The new jailbreak team known as the Evad3rs has confirmed that a jailbreak is now ready for download and it will be going live on Sunday.
The new untethered jailbreak called Evasi0n was announced on the hackers' official website. The group stated that the break will be for iOS6 and teh recently released iOS 6.1 update as well.
The hacking group is currently processing the Graphical User Interface and if they succeed, the untethered jailbreak will launch just as they claim, according to 9to5Mac.
The devices that will reportedly be supported include the iPhone 5, 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 4, 3, 2, iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5, 4 and finally the Apple TV 2 as well. The only device so far that will not support the jailbreak is the Apple TV 3.
The jailbreak process will only take 5 minutes to complete, but expect a full guide to go live as well for those that will be trying a jailbreak for the very first time.
The Evad3rs website listed a few of the requirements in order to complete the jailbreak.
Users will first need a computer, running Windows (XP minimum), Mac OS X (10.5 minimum) or Linux (x86 / x86_64). They will also be required to have an iPhone, iPad or iPod running iOS 6.0 through 6.1. The last piece that is needed is a simple USB cable that is able to connect the desired device into the computer being used to complete the process.
The iOS jailbreak eliminates the limitations forced by Apple on devices running the company's latest operating system through the use of software tweaks on devices that include iPhones, iPads, and more. A tethered system means the procedure must be repeated every time the smartphone reboots.
The Evad3rs team has only recently gotten together.
Renowned hacker Pod2g tweeted the news on Jan. 24 with the announced formation of the dream team of developers that includes Planetbeing, Pimskeks, and MuscleNerd.
