Move over Apple, Motorola, LG, Pebble and Samsung, luxury Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is committing itself to the smartwatch game. The legendary watch brand recently added the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch into its line of timepieces, and it's a smash hit! As Engadget reports, TAG took a gamble diving into the smartwatch arena, however, it's a move that was inevitable. With over 150 years of watchmaking under its belt, it was just a matter of when a solid veteran watch brand such as TAG would join the smartwatch race. Cut to 2015 and the TAG Heuer Connected Smartwatch, priced at $1,500 is in somewhat of a demand. TAG Heuer is expanding its smartwatch production from 1,200 units per week to 2,000 per week. Apple sold approximately 43,000 Apple Watch wearables on the daily in quarter three of this year, according to IDC, so Apple has nothing to lose sleep over yet.

We can expect to see more flavors of the TAG Heuer Carrera Connected smartwatch from within the window of the later part of 2016 or the start of 2017. "Considering the success of this single and unique watch, we will develop a collection made out of different varieties, executions and materials at the end of next year or beginning of 2017. The extension could include a gold and a diamond set version," Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE told Bloomberg.

The answer back to Apple Watch, the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch looks like a regular TAG Heuer Carrera sports watch at first glance. Look closer and you'll find all the makings of an exceptional quality timepiece along with on-the-go connectivity and functionality that smartwatches offer. Teaming up with Google, TAG Heuer baked Android Wear into its smartwatch to enable effortless customization and access to thousands of apps to suit the user's style.

This luxury smartwatch for TAG Heuer is equipped with directional wind and weather monitoring, 4GB of storage and an Intel processing chip. The Connected provides all the bells and whistles of similar smartwatches along with innovative interactive counters for precision RaceChrono Pro and Google Fit readings. Living up to its name, the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity so you can transmit data over-the-air and pair it up with Bluetooth compatible gadgets for cord free convenience.

TAG Heuer has plans to temporarty freeze online sales of the Connected smartwatch until the Summer to offer priority inventory to phisical stores. E-shoppers who intend to pick up one of these luxury Carrera smartwatches as a holiday gift this season may want to act fast.
