Olivia Wilde Showgirl Cover for Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue [PHOTOS]: Cooper, Affleck & More than 75 Stars
Vanity Fair unveiled its 2013 Hollywood Issue and among the stars featured in the magazine's photo spread is actress Olivia Wilde dressed as a showgirl.
The portfolio, shot by Bruce Weber, included more than 75 stars of all ages. Emma Stone, Bradley and Ben Affleck gracing the magazine's cover, with the two men dressed as a gorilla and bear respectively. Also in the magazine is Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Alan Arkin, Selena Gomez, Eddie Redmayne as a magician, Jonah Hill and 9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis as a musician. See photos here.
Wilde, who got engaged to comedian Jason Sudekis in December, wore a two-piece beaded lingerie set, heels and lots of feathers as she pretended to be a showgirl for the magazine. Redmayne and Bella Heathcote dance with a bear, tiger cubs are shot with the stars, and Tai the elephant - who has starred in many Hollywood films - posed for the camera before giving Gomez a ride.
Vanity Fair special correspondent Bob Colacello accompanied Weber on many of the shoots for the issue and said Weber's "magic kingdom . . . is more Cinecittà than Disney, a place where Old Hollywood glamour is filtered through the lens of postwar Italian neo-realism, and Norman Rockwell wholesomeness is given an antic Fellini edge."
Vanity Fair noted in the cover story that the magazine's editor, Graydon Carter, "wanted to do something different" for the portfolio's 19th year, and together with Weber created "Weber's Adventures in Hollywood."
Weber captured the stars in their different attires at various historic Hollywood locations, including soundstages, the Beverly Hills Hotel and the old Marion Davies estate. The photographer even had a portable record player shipped to the different locations to bring the "right musical accompaniment' for the cast of Hollywood characters created for the portfolio.
