HTC last week confirmed a press conference scheduled in New York City on February 19 where the rumored M7 flagship smartphone will supposedly be announced.

Now rumors suggest that while the device will be unveiled this month it will hit stores on March 8, according to a source for HTCSource.

There were previous rumors that the new phone would be announced at the Mobile World Congress at the end of the month for the best date. However, the latest rumors point to an earlier date that may be necessary to get the jump on the competition.

The rumors by HTCSource also stated that the flagship device will be released on multiple carriers in the US.

The announcement for HTC's upcoming press conference was reported by Engadget that confirmed the company will hold a dual event in London on the same day as the one in NYC. This could potentially mean the M7 could be available for both markets upon its release.

There is also some information regarding the colors in which the device will be available.

While most of the leaked images of the M7 show a black handset, consumers may be able to choose between black colors as well as a white and silver device upon release, according to TechRadar.

It is also rumored that the device will feature an aluminum body design, much like HTC's One S.

The HTC M7 is said to feature a 4.7-inch 1080p HD display, quad-core Qualcomm processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, new Sense 5 UI, and a 13-megapixel rear camera (2-megapixel front snapper).

Most of the specs are rumored to be similar to the HTC J Butterfly that was launched in Japan last year.

The company is hoping that its new rumored HD-full device will help the company make up for last year's poor sales as it struggled against competitors such as Samsung and Nokia, according to CNET.
