‘Tomb Raider: The Beginning’ Prequel Comic to Release with Game on March 5
A prequel comic will be released that will detail the introduction story for the upcoming video game reboot of the classic Tomb Raider franchise set to launch on March 5.
The 48-page, six-part hardcover series was announced on Thursday and will be released through Dark Horse Comics and Square Enix, according to GameRanx.
The story of the game was produced by developer Crystal Dynamics which puts the iconic archeologist and adventurer Lara Croft on her first quest before she would become the legend that players know her as today.
The tie-in comic "Tomb Raider: The Beginning" features Croft who joins archaeologist Dr. James Whitman on a television show which is looking for the lost Japanese kingdom of Yamatai.
Trouble starts with the destruction of the research ship Endurance after a devastating storm in the legendary Dragon's Triangle. The ship breaks apart and Croft is lost along with her team of researchers, according to MTV. Croft is eventually kidnapped by an insane inhabitant of a tropical island where she must use her wits and skills of survival in order to save her life and that of her team.
Besides being a reboot of the series, the latest Tomb Raider will be the first multiplayer game yet produced.
There has not been a lot of news confirmed for the game beyond the reboot storyline.
IGN reported that the game will not get a demo ahead of release leaving fans having to wait till the game officially arrives before being able to try it out.
A supposed achievements list for the Xbox 360 was released by Xbox360 Achievements and is rumored to mirror the same list for the PlayStation 3. The list showed that there will be 250 points available for gamers to earn in the multiplayer mode.
The comic "Tomb Raider: The Beginning" will be available as a bonus for customers who pre-order the game through Best Buy, and will also be available separately around the March 5 game release.
