Pre-orders for the Wii U version of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is available, with an unofficial release rumored to take place on Dec. 31.

Wii U Daily reported that the game is currently available for pre-order through Amazon and GameStop for $59.99. While Nintendo has yet to officially announce the release date for the game, the pre-order websites stated that the latest Zelda game for Wii U will be available at the end of the year.

Nintendo announced the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker in January during the Nintendo Direct conference, according to Forbes.

The Wii U version will update the popular 2003 GameCube role-playing title with high-definition graphics and gameplay designed around the latest GamePad controller.

The Wind Waker remake is not the only new Zelda game fans can expect, as another title was confirmed by Nintendo to be in the works.

The other Zelda game does not yet have a title and the details are slim for what fans can expect to see, but game producer Eiji Anomuma said the Nintendo development team is focusing on "rethinking conventions" from previous versions, according to USA Today.

Some of the conventions the company is working to address is forcing gamers to play by themselves as well as making them complete each dungeon in a certain order.

The Zelda franchise has become beloved by fans since it debuted for the Nintendo NES system. The most recent Zelda title was Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which has sold more than 3.42 million copies since it was released, according to GameSpot.

Fans of the series can brush up on the Zelda universe with the latest release of the book The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia in North America by Nintendo and Dark Horse Books. The video game book includes a full history of the land of Hyrule, the official game timeline and concept art that has not been seen before. Since its release last week it has remained in the top three of Amazon's charts for best sellers.
