Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Date April? Likely Not at Mobile World Congress Feb. 25
The latest rumors for the Samsung Galaxy S4 state that the device will not be announced at the Mobile World Congress event later this month.
A source close to the launch plans for Samsung allegedly stated that the Galaxy S4 will not be unveiled till a later date, according to CNET.
Samsung reportedly does not want to share the spotlight of its new flagship device with other companies that will make announcements at the Barcelona tech event that starts on Feb. 25.
So when might Samsung make the announcement for the highly anticipated new device?
PC-Tablet reported that Samsung may hold an event in March to unveil the device, but it appears that a majority of the rumors point to some time in April.
Geeky-Gadgets claimed to have received a tip from a source working in a major retailer in the U.K that Samsung's smartphone will launch sometime between April 15 and April 22.
Samsung may also wait till May to release the new phone as it did last year for the Galaxy S3. The company made a separate announcement to spotlight the device a few days before the CTIA Wireless conference in order to focus the attention on the top-of-the-line smartphone.
The rumored specs for the Samsung Galaxy S4 include a 5.0 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen device with a 1080p display, 2 GHz quad core Cortex A15 Exynos 5450 processor, 13MP rear camera, a S-Pen in the box and an enhanced Nature UX software skin.
The Android 4.2 operating system will reportedly be pre-installed onto the device when it ships, but there may also be a new update service to be released by Samsung.
The yet to be named update service is being developed in order to give Samsung more information on the devices being sold, according to SamMobile. It is still too early to tell if the new tracking service will be a push back for customers worried about privacy concerns.
As far as carriers, the Galaxy S4 will likely be sold at Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile upon initial release in the U.S.
There is also rumor that AT&T may potentially receive its own version of the Galaxy S4, according to GottaBeMobile.
