Kobe Bryant Divorce Cancelled but $3 Million Mansion Already Sold, Details
The $3 million mansion Vanessa and Kobe Bryant owned in a gated California community sold days before the pair announced their reconciliation and the cancellation of their divorce petition, according to Radar Online.
The 6,000 mansion in Newport Beach was listed in September for $3.75 million and closed mid-January for $3.22 million. It was one of three homes Vanessa and the NBA Lakers player jointly owned in the community.
Before they reconciled, Kobe and wife Vanessa agreed on a settlement about who would get what in the divorce, which at the time was still scheduled to take place. They decided that Vanessa would get the 6,000-square-foot home that they shared, The Stir noted, and she was responsible for the house being sold. In the transaction, Vanessa received $3.22 million.
The home was built in 1999 and purchased by the couple in 2003 for $2.65 million. The property had five bedrooms, an office, five fireplaces, a spa and outdoor kitchen.
Kobe lived in a three-bedroom bungalow at the Resort at Pelican Hill during his separation from Vanessa, according to gossip website. He and Vanessa married in 2000 and have two daughters -Natalia Diamente and Gianna Maria-Onore.
After rapper Drake slammed Vanessa in his song Stay Schemin' -saying she did not deserve a large amount of Kobe's fortune in the event of a divorce because "you wasn't with me shootin' the gym" - Kobe took to Twitter to defend his wife. Earlier in January he tweeted a refence to the song saying, "No," Vanessa was not in the gym, "she was busy raising our kids #nonanny #respectmothers."
Vanessa took to her Instagram page to defend herself in the matter.
"I don't need to be in the gym. I'm raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life," she wrote. "I hold down our home life so my husband can focus on his career. It's a partnership."
