iOS 6 Jailbreak: iPhone 5, iPad 4 Not Affected by iOS 6.1.1 Patch
Apple released iOS 6.1 last week and another update is being pushed today to users in order to fix reported bugs.
The latest patch, iOS 6.1.1, was produced in an effort to enhance Apple's iOS 6.1 which added a handful of useful features to the iPhone, iPad and iPod, bringing LTE support to 36 more carriers around the globe, as well as improvements to iTunes Match and Siri.
Apple choose an interesting time to launch the patch it comes shortly after the first untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 6.0 and 6.1 was released on Monday.
The process was developed by hacking team Evad3rs who published their evasi0n tool on the official website of the group.
The evasi0n jailbreak is compatible with iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, and 6.1 devices. It also supports a variety of Apple devices including the iPhone 5, 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 4, 3, 2, iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5 and 4.
The jailbreak will also work with Apple TV 2 but currently is not supported for Apple TV 3.
So how will the latest patch affect users that are either in the process of or have already used the jailbreak process on their devices?
Renowned hacker pod2g, a member of the Evad3rs responded to the latest action by Apple on his Twitter account on Thursday: "6.1.1 beta (10B311) does not fix the jailbreak. It'll probably happen in a future revision. Don't upgrade though, evasion won't let you jb."
The hackers also released version 1.1 for the iOS jailbreak which fixes a long reboot time problem as well as a bug that caused the default Weather app to crash, according to iPodnn.
The iOS jailbreak eliminates the limitations forced by Apple on devices running the company's latest operating system through the use of software tweaks on devices that include iPhones, iPads, and more.
Users do not have to worry about the legality of using the jailbreak process on their devices, but they will have to worry about the response from Apple as breaking the device voids its warranty, according to PC Mag.
