Jailbreak iOS 5 Downgrade, Evasi0n iOS 6 Jailbreak; User Customization vs Apple Warnings
Apple users can now customize their phones with the evasi0n untethered iOS 6 jailbreak, but some will have to wait as a new downgrade to iOS 5 is in the works.
Even though Apple warned against the jailbreak process, the evasi0n tool was extremely successful and received around seven million downloads within the first four days it became available, according to Forbes .
But some Apple users also have the opportunity to go back to older operating systems with tools that can downgrade devices back to iOS 5.
A hacker known as Winocm is working on the necessary steps in order to downgrade an up-to-date Apple device back to iOS 5.1.1, according to iDownloadBlog. The downgrade will reportedly be available for A5+ powered devices.
MacLife also posted the necessary requirements for users that want to downgrade non-A4 and A4 devices back to the previous operating system.
Users who want to stick with iOS 6 and jailbreak the current system can take advantage of the evasi0n tool, published by the hacking team Evad3rs.
The iOS jailbreak eliminates the limitations forced by Apple on devices running the company's latest operating system through the use of software tweaks on devices that include iPhones, iPads, and more. This means users can make the phone more efficient for their needs and gives access to apps not authorized by Apple.
The current tool can jailbreak iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, and 6.1 devices. It also supports a host of Apple devices that include the iPhone 5, 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 4, 3, 2, iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5, 4 and finally the Apple TV 2 as well. Apple TV 3 is currently the only next-generation device currently unable to be hacked with evasi0n.
All of the forced customization capable through jailbreaking an iOS devices goes against Apple's wishes for how users are expected to treat their devices.
The company posted a full warnings list full of dangers for jailbreaking an iOS device that includes: program instability, dropped phone calls, security vulnerability and the shortening of battery life. Users who use the jailbreak process on their devices will also have their warranties voided.
