A woman who will turn 105 years old in April is being forced to lie about her age on Facebook because the site does not allow user birthdays to surpass at a certain age.

Marguerite Joseph of Gross Pointe Shores Michi., said she uses the social media site to keep in touch with her family members who are spread out across the country, but is upset by the fact that she has to put her age as 99.

Joseph's granddaughter, Gail Marlow helps her update her profile on the site because her grandmother is blind. Marlow said Facebook won't allow her to list Joseph's real age. When Marlow tried inputting her grandmother's birth year as 1908, Facebook automatically changed to 1928.

"Every time I tried to change the settings to the right year, Facebook always came back with an unknown error message and would send us right back to a year she wasn't born in," Marlow said.

As of Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, neither Facebook officials nor Mark Zuckerberg have been able to meet the 104-year-old woman's challenge, according to a Daily News report.

Not suprisingly, Facebook issued a statement after Joseph's story:

"We've recently discovered an issue whereby some Facebook users may be unable to enter a birthday before 1910. We are working on a fix for this and we apologize for the inconvenience."

Marlow told WDIV-TV she would "love to see" her gradmother's real age posted and chalks it up to "a glitch in the system."

"I mean in April she's going to be 105. It's special."

Despite being legally blind and hard of hearing, Marlow said her now 104-year-old grandmother reads and responds to all of her messages.

"This is an opportunity for me to share her with the world, and I truly believe being online has helped keep her young," Marlow said.
