iPhone 6, iPhone 5S Motherboard Picture Leaked; A7 Processor Chip in Development?
Apple may be working on an upcoming release for the iPhone 6.
The speculation was prompted by recently leaked image that previews the latest A7 chip processor in development for Apple's next-generation smartphones, according to GSM Arena.
The image of the alleged Apple motherboard was released by iOSDoc which claimed that it was taken by a "reliable" source close to the production of either the new iPhone 5S or iPhone 6.
The unnamed source claimed that the A7 chip is based on four cores clocked at 1.2 GHz, which is helped with the addition of the PowerVR GPU with quad-core graphics. The PowerVR GPU is reportedly the same that is currently fitted on the A6X chip inside the iPad 4.
However, the image may be a fake as Today's iPhone reported that the device's markings in the image appear to be altered.
Additional photos of a new iPhone were released on the French website Nowhereelse.fr in January. The images were reportedly taken by an employee at the Far Eastern manufacturing company that allegedly show different parts for either the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, according to SlashGear.
Apple also reportedly conducted prototype tests for two new handsets..
Peter Misek, an analyst for Jefferies, hinted that the Apple is testing a new "low-cost" iPhone that would be "similar to the iPad Mini" in its execution, according to Know Your Mobile. He also stated that the one of the phones would likely feature a polycarbonate case with a 4-inch non-Retina Display screen and no 4G capabilities. The other device is rumored to have a larger 4.8-inch display.
It appears that Apple may be looking into releasing two different models with premium and budget prices.
The next iPhone is expected to launch as early June 2013.
