Playtation Vita Games; 'Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus' Available; Sony to Release New 'Assassin's Creed', 'Thomas Was Alone'
PlayStation Vita users were able to download Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus this week and have a few other games to look forward to playing this year.
The original Ninja Gaiden Sigma hit the PS Vita as a launch title last year and this year's release is filled with fast action and bloody scenes. Pocket Gamer's review stated that it is a good game for the handheld system but is pretty much a close replica of the PlayStation 3 version.
Users can download Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on the PlayStation Network for $39.99.
There are a few other new games that users should look forward to getting their hands on later in the year.
Fans of the Assassin's Creed series have another game to look forward to as Ubisoft is reportedly working on a new title for PS Vita.
VGLeaks reported that two new games in the series are being planned with a PS Vita version to be released later this year.
The news of a new Assassin's Creed game was also teased by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot who was quoted by Computer and Video Games saying, "I cannot announce anything, but it's coming. The Vita is not dead for us."
PS Vita owners will also have a chance to play the minimalist title Thomas Was Alone later this year, according to PlayStation Blog.
The game became a hit after it was first released on digital distributors for PC and features a soundtrack from David Housden.
Thomas Was Alone lets gamers take control of various rectangles who each have a special skill that can be utilized to get through each of the game's challenging and original platform puzzles.
New games are not the only thing that users have to look forward to with two new apps being developed for release in spring, according to JoyStiq.
The social networking app Friend Network is making a transition from Japan for North American users that will allow PS Vita owners to create an army of friends.
The other app is Imaginstruments which allows users to create their own original musical creations and the ability to save them to the console's memory card.
The PS Vita is currently one of the most powerful handheld gaming consoles available on the market. The system uses similar specs to the PS 3 and comes at a price of $249. The memory card used for storing downloaded games runs at around $99 for a 32 GB card and is a proprietary format that does not allow third-party versions.
