Loyal Dog Prevents Suicide of Owner: German Shepherd Hailed Another Dog Hero
A German Shepherd intervened when an unidentified 63-year-old French woman attempted to commit suicide on Wednesday.
According to The Telegraph, the woman, who lives in Sorgues in the Vaucluse region of France, walked into her garden and fired test shots before turning her 22-calibre rifle to her chest.
The first several test shots were believed to draw the dog's attention, according to a local officer. "At the moment she pulled the trigger, her dog jumped on her and diverted the shot," a local police officer said, according to the British paper. The officer added that the woman's dog may have sensed things and was trying to save her by knocking into her.
When the woman's husband found her, she was suffering from a non-life threatening chest wound, according to International Business Times.
This story has also been closely tied with another story revealing canine heroism.
On March 4, a stray dog was believed to have saved Julia, 3, in Poland, by preventing her from freezing to death after she wandered from home, according to the International Business Times. Around 200 people were searching for the girl until they found her with the dog in a forest. She was treated for frostbite.
