Motley Crue front man Vince Neil underwent a successful surgery on Sunday after kidney stones disrupted his Sydney, Australia show.

The rocker took to Twitter after his 30-minute surgery to let his fans know he was well and to thank them for their support. Neil, 52, tweeted, "Just out of surgery. Spent night in hospital probably have to again tonight. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers."

Nikki Sixx, the band's bassist, further updated fans on Facebook. He explained the Australia concert was cut short four songs because Neil was "doubled over on his dressing room floor five minutes till showtime," and was told by the promoter not to play but didn't want to disappoint the fans.

Sixx described the pain Neil must have felt to have cancelled the show: "I've seen Vinnie go onstage with broken bones, his voice completely blown out and torn ligaments but he never ever cancels."

Motley Crue is touring Australia with Kiss and Thin Lizzy and performed at Sydney's Allphone's Arena on Sunday when Neil was in pain. After thanking the arena and paramedics, Neil tweeted that his doctor said he should be in full recovery soon and that he is expected to play in Brisbane on Tuesday night.

Motley Crue Manager Alan Kovak expects Neil to be able to perform Tuesday and said, "In nearly 20 years of managing Motley Crue, I can't recall a show the band has cancelled."
