Yankees 'Brokeback Mountain' Comparison: NY Team Called Out by Broadcaster Doug Glanville, VIDEO
While commenting on the New York Yankees game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, ESPN's Doug Glanville said the flailing team was like Brokeback Mountain.
According to Big League Stew, which showed the video clip, Glanville said, "They have basically Brokeback Mountain going over here. I mean everybody's on the disabled list or hurt in some form or fashion."
The Yankees have had a rough season so far with many players being injured such as Alex Rodriguez, who will miss much of the season due to a hip surgery.
The 2005 film Brokeback Mountain, which was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won three, was a movie about a love affair between two male cowboys. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal starred in the film alongside Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams.
The Bronx Bombers have won a total of 27 World Series titles, winning its last title in 2009. The Yankees made it to the post-season in 2012 and finished in first place in the American League East. However, the Yankees lost to the Detroit Tigers for the American League Championship Series title after the Yankees were swept in four games.
