Approximately 17 celebrities and political figures had their bank information and social security numbers hacked and revealed to the public by a group known as the Celebrity Hackers with the Twitter name Exposed.

The hackers' website, which isn't currently active, was titled The Secret Files and had the tagline, "If you believe that God makes miracles, you have to wonder if Satan has a few up his sleeve," according to the Daily Mail.

The tagline, which is also written on the bio of the group's Twitter page, is a quote from the Showtime hit series Dexter, TMZ noted. The show first aired in 2006 and is about forensics expert Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) who is also a serial killer that goes after criminals.

The hackers reportedly used credit information they stole and did not just broadcast the records for publicity purposes. A source didn't reveal how much of the information has been used but told the gossip website that the FBI knew about the hackers before they made themselves public.

The supposed Twitter account, Exposed, was created Monday after the TMZ report came out, according to USA Today. The hacker's never explained how they obtained the information or why they chose the celebrities and figures they chose, according to the news source.
