NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders was awarded primary custody of his two sons from his estranged wife, Pilar Sanders.

According to TMZ, Deion Sanders will have full legal and physical custody of his sons who are 11 and 13, however he will have joint custody with his daughter, 9. Both Sanders and his former wife were fighting for full custody.

Deion Sanders said to the Dallas Morning News, "I'm thankful; I'm elated. In any war, there will be casualties, but I didn't want the casualties in this case to be my kids."

The Dallas Morning News reported that after the result, Pilar Sanders was "flabbergasted" and that her attorney Larry Freidman said they will repeal.

The divorce for Deion Sanders and Pilar was first filed in 2011. The divorce came to a head last April, according to the Dallas Morning News, because of a domestic dispute that occurred at their mansion. Pilar was arrested and both were charged for misdemeanor assaults but the charges were thrown out by the judge.

Deion Sanders is mostly known for being a running back for the Dallas Cowboys from 1995 to 1999. He currently works as an analyst for the NFL Network.
