'Spotlight' Film Best Picture: Was Journalism Drama Really The Greatest Achievement In 2015? [POLL]
Spotlight won the biggest prize of the night at the 2016 Oscars, taking home the trophy for Best Picture, and there are mixed reactions on Twitter.
'Spotlight' Is Your 2016 Best Picture Winner
Detailing the Boston Globe investigation into sexual abuse within the Catholic Church, Spotlight was officially named Best Picture of 2015 by the Academy Awards.
The film only won one other award at the ceremony, with Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer winning for Best Original Screenplay. With only two wins, this is the lowest win total for a movie that won Best Picture since The Greatest Show on Earth in 1953.

It was thought to be a close race for this entire award season between Spotlight, The Big Short and The Revenant. Predictions were all over the place heading into the ceremony, with many award pundits placing their bets on The Revenant.
Many Twitter users were very happy with the big Spotlight win:
Spotlight was the best movie of year...well deserved.

Had Spotlight only won best pic and nothing else, it would still be well deserved. And a huge statement. A triumph of film and filmmaking.

In all seriousness, Spotlight was damn good and it absolutely deserved to beat the plodding Revenant.

Spotlight deserved it. You don’t need to go to the ends of the earth to make a great film.

Others were less enthused that their favorite movie did not take home the big prize:
Still Cant believe Spotlight won Best picture over The Revenant but Kudos to Leo for FINALLY winning his oscar.

Storywise, Spotlight is more engaging but for the whole package of a best picture at Oscars; i would still go for The Revenant. #oscars

but i'm really disappointed that #TheRevenant didnt win best picture! this movie is extraordinary on so many levels!

Don't think Spotlight should have gotten best picture at all. Would much rather have seen it go to The Revenant or Room.

Bidge of spies or the revenant were more worthy of best picture#Oscars2016

Hard to believe The Big Short didn't win best picture. Spotlight must be a damn good film. #Oscars2016

Spotlight makes sense as best picture. Very safe and tame, but Mad Max got screwed. Best of the year, easy. Even Big Short was more worthy.

Well done to the film Spotlight for winning Best Picture, but I think Bridge of Spies and Big Short were better! #Oscars2016 #Spotlight

The Big Short is such a well done movie. Wish it would've won best picture tonight. So damn good

What do you think? Did Spotlight deserve Best Picture? And if not, which movie did deserve it?
