Lil Wayne told his fans he is doing well on Saturday amid reports that set Twitter ablaze after news that he was in a coma at a hospital in California after a suspected sizzurp binge.

On Friday TMZ reported that Wayne was in a coma at Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after suffering multiple seizures and been shaking "uncontrollably." The celebrities' news website reported at G9:30 pm EST that the rapper was still "in critical condition," and that family members and fellow rappers were visiting in the hospital.

It also reported that Wayne's mother was flying to LA to see him.

Few hours later at 1:30 am Saturday, Lil Wayne posted the following message on Twitter:

"I'm good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love."

Wayne's representative told US Weekly "Wayne is doing well."

A source close to the rapper said Wayne "drank too much sizzurp to get a better high," according to the magazine.

"He needs rehab but he's not close to death or anything. He's fine and just coming down off the high," the source told US Weekly.

The highly addictive narcotic also known as "purple drank," "lean," "syrup," "barre" and "purple jelly," is popular among rappers, according to Wikipedia. It is prepared with cough syrup , fruit flavored sodas and hard candies such as jolly ranchers "to add flavor."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Wayne is a long time user of the drug and has written multiple lyrics about it.

The drug is highly addictive and can be deadly. Rapper Pimp C reportedly died in 2008 of a cough-syrup overdose, according to the L.A. County Coroner's office.

The effects of the drug are euphoria (caused by the codeine in the cough syrup) and motor skill impairment, lethargy, and extreme drowsiness (caused by the Promethazine.)
