Emma Watson Rumors on "50 Shades of Grey" Anastasia Steele Role Debunked
Will the character who played as the teacher's pet in Harry Potter star as Anastasia Steele? According to rumors, this may be the case.
But Emma Watson assured fans on Saturday that she would not be starring in the 50 Shades of Grey movie, stating, "Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life."
Rumors spread like wildfire that Watson would play Anastasia Steele due to the hacker-activist group Anonymous posting that claimed she would star in E.L. James' novel trilogy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The idea that Watson would star in 50 Shades of Grey began last summer, though Watson insisted these rumors were just not true.
"There are so many movies you become attached to when I've literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' -- I never even saw a script!" Watson had told EW.com in July 2012
Fifty Shades of Grey doesn't have a leading actor, actress or director, according to The Huffington Post. The film is expected to be released during the summer of 2014, Screenwriter Kelly Marel said she felt the film would receive a rating of NC-17.
Though Watson may be on a studio wish list, she is not confirmed to star in the movie.
