Pittsburgh vs Wichita State Live Stream Free: Watch NCAA Tournament Online At 1:40 PM ET
Apparently Wichita State senior Carl Hall isn't very superstitious when it comes to winning, as he debuted a new hairdo on Wednesday at a pre-NCAA tournament press conference in Salt Lake City, which is where the No. 9-seeded Shockers will square off today against No. 8 Pittsburgh.
Hall had sported dreadlocks throughout his entire Wichita State collegiate career prior to his spontaneous decision to cut them off this week. The respective haircut became the focal point of the press conference and went viral on the Internet.
To top it off, the offing of his mane even spurred a new Twitter account @thebestdreads.
"I just wanted to try something different. I wanted to be like a new person coming into this tournament," Hall explained to the media.
Earlier in his career, Hall's dreadlocks actually inspired a shirt that read, "Dread the locks," and was sold at the campus bookstore.
Hall said that he went to a local barber shop in Wichita to remove the locks and the haircutter repeatedly asked him if he was sure he wanted them cut, according to Yahoo! Sports. The forward said that although he had a brief moment of regret, he still went ahead with it anyway.
