In one of many NCAA Round of 64 matchups, the St. Mary's (28-6, 14-2 WCC) squad will face off against Memphis (30-4, 16-0 C-USA) at The Palace of Auburn Hills this afternoon.
The questions surrounding the Memphis squad usually come around March Madness, and this year seems no different.
After dominating the Conference USA, the Tigers find themselves in the NCAA tournament, but the general public still seems uncertain as to whether they've been fully tested during its regular season.
However, coach Josh Pastner is fed up with hearing the naysayers.
"To say that we haven't been battle tested is ridiculous. We've won 26 straight Conference USA games. Every time we step on the floor, we get everyone's best shot. That means if we're playing East Carolina, they have a gold-out. If we're playing Marshall they have a green-out," he told ESPN.
Barely a margin of error, the only option for Memphis to silence its critics is to win the NCAA tournament, which is a goal they feel is in close reach.
