Reagan Daughter Lesbian Novel: Patti Davis Denies 'Till Human Voices Wake Us' Is Autobiographical, "It's a Love Story"
Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan's daughter Patti Davis' latest book has many wondering whether she is a lesbian.
Davis' latest self-published book, titled Till Human Voices Wake Us, is about a woman falling in love with her sister-in-law. It is currently being sold on Amazon for $3.
Despite many wondering if the book is in any way autobiographical, Davis confirmed to NY Post that it is not about her. "This is not me. None of its autobiographical," she said.
The late President's daughter had been controversial in the past, as she had posed for Playboy in 1994 and appeared nude again at the age of 58.
Her latest novel does not involve any sex scenes. She told the Post, "I didn't want to write Fifty Shades of whatever. It's a love story."
According to her Amazon page, Davis decided to self-publish her book after it was rejected by other publishers. "'I am a published author - 8 books - but I find myself in the same situation many authors do these days. Getting publishers to say yes is really hard. I've dipped my toe into self-publishing with my novel, Till Human Voices Wake Us. It made the rounds of publishing houses, garnered a lot of interest but no offers."
She continued: "I've written a lot about my famous family, the Reagans - maybe this was too much of a departure for publishers to wrap their heads around. But now there is KDP and the room to publish a book yourself. It's exciting to me -- a new era in publishing."
Davis had changed her name to her mother's maiden name during her college days. She had written autobiographies in the past, writing about growing up in the public eye as the First Daughter.
She is famous for her liberal views such as support for gay rights, which had in the past clashed with her conservative father.
