Sandusky on TODAY: Former Penn State Coach Jerry Sandusky Will Speak on TODAY Monday [Video]
Jerry Sandusky, former Penn State defensive coordinator, will speak on the TODAY show Monday for the first time since going to prison for child sexual abuse.
Sandusky, 69, was found guilty on 45 of 48 counts of child sexual abuse and was sentenced last October for 30 to 60 years in prison, according to The Washington Post.
On Friday, Matt Lauer said of the coming Sandusky interview, "He'll describe in his own words what he says happened on the Penn State campus."
In an interview with Bob Costas in December 2011, Costas asked Sandusky about accusations by witness Mike McQueary, that he had showered with young boys and was seen engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with the minors.
During the interview, Sandusky denied the allegations. When Costas asked if he was attracted to young boys, Sandusky said, "I enjoy young people. I love to be around them, but no, I'm not sexually attracted to young boys."
Following those accusations and subsequent evidence coming to light, Penn State head coach Joe Paterno was fired for allegedly not taking action even though he had been made aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior by Sandusky.
"We determined that his decision to do his minimum legal duty and not to do more to follow up constituted a failure of leadership by Coach Paterno," The Penn State trustees wrote after firing Paterno, ESPN reported.
The TODAY show interview will broadcast on March 25.
