Gucci Mane Wanted: Rapper/Actor Wanted for Aggravated Assault Against James Lettley
Rapper and Spring Breakers actor Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, is wanted by Atlanta police for assaulting a fan in a night club with a champagne bottle on March 16, according to reports.
32-year-old James Lettley, a Fort Hood native, told police he was in Atlanta celebrating his birthday when he became aware Gucci Mane would be at Harlem Nights Ultra Lounge to promote a new mixtape. Lettley wanted to get a picture with Gucci Mane and said he was talking to a security guard when he was hit in the head with a bottle by the rapper.
"Once he struck me in my head, I looked at him in a state of shock and looked at him like 'why?"' Lettley told the Associated Press. After being hit with the bottle, Lettley said he was then hit in the face by a second man.
According to police, the attack on Lettley appeared unprovoked and left him with a gash in his head that required 10 stitches. Afterward, Gucci Mane reportedly left the scene in a white Chevrolet Tahoe. A warrant has been issued against Gucci Mane for aggravated assault.
Gucci Mane is no stranger to legal troubles, and has a long list of transgressions. In 2005 he was charged with murder after being involved in a fight at a house in Decatur. He and his group opened fire on another group and a man was killed. That man was later found near a middle school. Gucci Mane claimed self-defense and the charges were later dropped due to insufficient evidence.
He served jail time in 2001 for cocaine possession, in 2008 for violating probation, in 2011 for battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Later in 2011 he served six months after pleading guilty to two counts of battery and two counts of reckless conduct and one count of disorderly conduct.
